Compelled to Care?

Is the human race compelled to care? Are we actually caring people? Yes, yes we are. The human race really does care about what happens in the community of our world. Do we act like we don’t care? Of course. I have to admit; sometimes I act like I don’t care. Even though I do act like that sometimes, every time I see a cute animal, I am compelled to help.

All sorts of animals are going to be hurt or at least affected by global warming. When humans see the conditions of our planet, they feel compelled to help, but who has the time? Everyone is running around to sports, attending parties, or simply doing their homework. We don’t have much time to care about the environment. Yes, we recycle, but when you really think about it, how much is that doing? Well, I will tell you…

Recycling reduces the amount of landfills that are in the world. Products that are not biodegradable can stay in the landfill for centuries. Centuries… What a long time! Recycling cost much less than throwing everything away. Recycling reduces pollution. It takes less manufacturing to recycle than it does to crush all the trash. You can save so much money by purchasing recycled items than non-recycled items.

Now that you know there is at least one thing you can do, you can help the environment. Each thing makes a difference. Start now!

It’s really cool that your title is a question. Nice post- totally to the point and full of rhetorical questions (gotta love those). Good job Eliza!

I really enjoyed your post. I completely agree with what you said about how we are “too busy” to care about the environment because we care more about other things (sports, school). Global warming isn’t too high up on our priority list and we should try to change that. Good job!

I liked the rhetorical questions, but it also gives even more questions. If you watch most animals they are doing nothing, sleeping, playing, or eating. What says that people are any different. A lot of emphasis is put on your public appearance these days and I can see people just putting on a “mask”. Is laziness in human nature?

Thanks you guys! I was researching a little farther in detail and here’s some things that I found.
Recycling one ton of paper saves seventeen trees. That is a large amount of trees that are saved. Methane and nitrous oxide are greenhouse gases that are causing many global warming problems. Methane and nitrous oxide are emitted when paper is made. When recycled paper is made is saves 80% of those gases from entering the atmosphere. A 60 watt light bulb can be run for over a day with the energy saved from recycling 1 pound of aluminum. It takes 70% less energy to make plastic out of recycled materials than out of raw materials. When paper is not recycled it 80% ends up in landfills. If paper is recycled it saves trees and less CO2 is put into the atmosphere. If less CO2 is in the atmosphere it helps slow down global warming.

Just wanted to add a little more information. Hope this is helpful!

Eliza! Well for one, I could definitely hear your voice in this post! Great job with that! I also wanted to say that I agree with you when you said that everyone is so caught up in their daily activities, that they don’t think that they have time to pay any attention to global warming. When people see a cute animal however, they want to help. Maybe if people become aware of the animals that are being so heavily affected by the climate change, they will be Compelled To Care? Also, I would like to applaud your use of rhetorical questions! This increased the tone as well as the voice of your post. Great job!

Thanks! Rhetorical questions are my new voice element and I really tried to incorporate them into my writing. I am so glad you could hear what I was going for!

Yes we are compelled to care, however why do we/the great amount of the public not care about global warming?

I really liked your post, it is along the lines of what I was trying to get to in my last post. I really enjoyed in the second to last paragraph where you put the … to make the reader want to keep reading. I think that your post is short and strong and I really enjoyed it.
